Holy Resurrection Greek School offers a comprehensive program of Greek education for children of all ages, from beginner through the Regents level.
The Holy Resurrection Greek School Program offers a comprehensive program of Greek education for children of all ages, from beginner through the Regents level. Students are placed in levels in accordance with their knowledge of the Greek language rather than grades according to their age. Children have an opportunity to learn at their individual level, in small classes, with experienced teachers.
The Greek School meets for three hours each week (with the exception of Regents) on Wednesdays or Fridays from 4:30-7:30 pm from mid-September until early June, with the younger children ending earlier. We are now offering those levels with enough students for more than one class on both days.
The program consists of instruction in all of the following curriculum areas: Reading, Writing, and Grammar - Conversation – Culture and History – Greek Dance and Performing Arts.
During the academic year, special events are scheduled where students perform plays, recite poems, sing songs, and dance. They include Oxi Day, Christmas, Greek Independence Day, and Graduation. In addition, our Greek School participates in the Greek Independence parade in NYC and dances at our annual Greek Village Festival.
We encourage all parents to join our Parents Association. The Greek School Parents Association is largely responsible for planning and fundraising events and activities. The Parents Association assists the school throughout the year.
